President Obama gave his support to Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke last week, giving her a call last Friday to see if she was okay.  President Obama’s gesture reminds me of how he inserted himself in the Skip Gates incident where Cambridge police arrested the Harvard professor after he expressed his indignation for being harassed by the cops while in his own home.

The issue was local, but Mr. Obama learned from his rookie mistake; that as Head of State you have to give up that local community organizer hat.


The other thing he apparently learned was that you can insert yourself into an issue that has absolutely nothing to do with the executive branch.   Yes, Mr. Obama is correct that Mr. Limbaugh’s attitude and language toward Ms. Fluke has no place in the public discourse, but the only place the Fluke-Limbaugh debate belongs is in a state court…
